Lumber, Stone, and Plant Fibre no longer block players from using waygates or bat form.
imo, they should do bone and animal hide too.
You can't accidentally end up with Bone and Hide; you have to pick the up. The three resources they chose are all "auto-add" resources you can get accidentally while fighting.
Before, you could go out with an empty inventory to do some PvP, then get chased back to the gate and killed before you can warp... because during the fight you happened to hit a wall or some trees.
Yeah, that makes sense.
I agree this is probably the reasoning, however by that logic, then iron, sulphur, copper etc, should also be teleportable. These are all resources that are auto add.
My guess is they wanted to alleviate the auto add issue as you describe, but didn't want to allow too much resource movement via waygate as it would then detract from the usefulness of the cave system.
I honestly think beyond just the fact that those three resources are auto-pickup, the purpose for this is to enable easier base transferring.
Blood essence is already able to be teleported and along with wood, stone and plant fiber (in the early game) those are the only things you need to start building a base.
The only problem I see is that hypothetically this could allow you to put small bases in otherwise unintended and unreachable locations using bat form.
You can already do that. You can find these 3 things practically anywhere.
Most likely. I am not fully familiar with every spot on the map so I don't know for sure.
Wonder why they didn’t though. Having the decision criteria on patch notes would be great.
Because those three resources can end up in your inventory by accident from hitting them. Bone and Hide you have to pick up on purpose.
Lol that’s pretty silly cause it takes like 2 seconds to drop them but it might just be the reason …
If I leave my home portal to go out specifically to PvP (with an empty inventory), and during the fight I turn tail and run back but get killed b/c during the fight I hit some fucking grass, I'd be pissed.
But turning into bat or teleporting already takes at least a magnitude more time than dropping the stuff any situation where this could make a difference looks so rare
Please tell me, O' Alien-TwentyFingers, how you managed to stand at a portal and hold down F while simultaneously opening your inventory, finding grass, and drag-dropping it without messing some part of that whole debacle up and getting killed in a moment of panic.
Now you can go fight, flee, and the only thing obstructing you is the portal "hold F" timer.
Lol I can’t do sht but what i mean is that that specific situation seems too rare to be considered for an update at this very early stage
I mean, it *was* considered and it's not exactly a difficult change to implement. They didn't exactly delay a content drop by 2 weeks to make the change. It's just a simple QoL adjustment.
No it doesnt...
Yeah, PVP and teleporting is why.
Nah... Decisionmaking reasons don't belong in patch notes, those are for blog posts and more generalising articles explaining the broader scope of multiple decisions affecting more settings or balance changes.
Give the devs more time.
Could you imagine how long some patch notes would get if they explained why on everything
Here's example from Path of Exile - https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3228807
On the other hand, LoL
WoW has been doing this lately. It can be done without turning a page of notes into a novel and if formatter properly doesn't get in the way if you don't care.
I do, hence my comment to the guy above me.
Fair enough good points, having them somewhere would be ideal … eventually
Essentially all the "basic tier" resources should be allowed through.
Or anything else if you change the game setting=D
I honestly wish there would be a boss that would allow you to teleport *without* using a waygate. I hate when I’m nowhere near a gate and nowhere near my base.
This is a really really really bad decision overall. Imagine all the trolling on private servers when a high tier player uses bat form, moves behind beginner's base, creates a small base, reports the player for blocking him and the admin bans the player afterwards.. trollfiesta inc.
Any admin with remotely half a brain investigates before blindly issuing bans, and should know their top players. If people are playing with admins like this, they need to get out and on to a proper server.
You can already do that...
This can already happen... wood ans stone arent rare.
Am I the only one who sees an infinite steam loading screen?
Added a new admin command “decayusercastles ” that puts all the castles owned by a target player in decay.
The adminlist.txt and banlist.txt files are now loaded from both the default Settings folder as well as from the local override Settings folder. These files always save to the local override folder now.
Fixed a crash that could happen occasionally when destroying castles.
Fixed issue where you could sometimes crash the client of another player by targeting them with the “claninvite” console command when not in a clan.
Fixed issue where you could duplicate items by resurrecting and terminating servants in a specific way.
The RCON socket now binds to the bind address if specified. There is also a specific RCON Bind Address to override the default one. See the dedicated server documentation for more details.
Lumber, Stone, and Plant Fibre no longer block players from using waygates or bat form.
I get it also
They need to fix the area discovery problem. Telling your friends hey would you log off the game so I can get an area discovery update is counter productive.
?? I don't have that issue.
That's good. It seems the requirements to have the issue if you are in a clan and you aren't the first person that logged in. If you're in a clan and the first person logged in you don't have the problem. If you aren't the first person logged in within your clan you have to ask people to log off and log back in which I guess bumps you up the chart so that you're able to get area discoveries. I suspect solo players don't have this problem at all.
My brother just ran a private server of his world and he all just played through join game on steam.
Why didn’t they just add an auto-loot option for basic resources? If I don’t specifically pick something up, it doesn’t get added to my inventory. If I do, then it continues. This would solve the problem of wanting to pick up one specific item and for some reason you pick up everything in its vicinity as well.
This is a fix. What you're talking about is a new feature not programed into the game. All they did was allow 3 more resources to count like blood essence.
It isn’t a new “feature.” Loot tables already exist in the game, and we can already see that they’re separated and categorized individually based on this “fix” alone. Add the same filter to the player, instead of the portal, and allow the option to be toggled on or off in the menu. It already exists, just isn’t applied in the most logical place.
Been over a week and I still can't fill up water bottles. I was able to before the last patch, but for whatever reason it broke that functionality for me. It's a game breaking bug because I can't make holy potions now.
I also cannot respawn at any of my stone coffins. And every time I die all my gear score is not added up until I take off all my armor and put it back on. Only affects my main server, and it only affects me, so I'm not sure if it's some kind of character corruption or what, but since there is no way to delete my character I'm kind of screwed. I've tried verifying, reinstalling, restarting the server, nothing works.
You can buy them with silver.. but yeah, thats shitty.
Hope your glass-w/-water allergy gets better soon.
Thanks for the info, thought silver was mostly for cosmetics. I'll have to try doing that. Hopefully it gets fixed soon.
Ya saves you a bunch on scourgestone.
I think it's 40 silver a pop.
And you get to hear yourself laugh like an idiot madman when you turn into a human.
I imagine vampires see human form like we see a two person horse costume. XD
Or...how we see people wearing a vampire costume?
Oh the "horse costume" point was strictly in reference to the otherwise stange/out-of-place and ridiculous laughter your character performs when going incognito.
I don't laugh like that while getting dressed for work, but I might laugh a bit if putting on some silly costume.
I was pontificating about a connection to a humor source -- yes, all hypothetical and fantasy based.
How often do you look for new servers that this is an issue
Considering I can’t find a server that lasts more than a week, pretty often
Awe man, they fixed the dupe/repair bug already.
if you relied on that that is your problem
Other people on the server did, so fair is fair.
But don't get me started on the other secret crutches I use.
Everything has a cost regardless.
>Lumber, Stone, and Plant Fibre no longer block players from using waygates or bat form.
It would be interesting to see an endgame biome , such as a desert, where there is a lack of those basic resources so they must be imported via waygate or flown in.
But cosmetics remains not blood-bound :(
I think the intention is a sort of meta game where players collect all the hats. Being they have no stat benefit, its an easy way to encourage pvp a little bit if you see someone with a nice hat you like lol.
I really hope we're getting to the point of more/improved content soon. I'd love to return to this game, never experienced end game due to servers dying in 3 days.
Edit for all the downvotes: The game has lost over 80% of its player base for a good reason. There is very little replayablilty right now and is just a 2 day race to the top, but I'm sure with time that will change. Why do people choose not to see the current issues and hope for better server health in the near future?
Probably because this game has been in early access for a month. You did not buy a finished product and they are a small studio. You can’t just clap your hands together and shit out new content like that. This stuff takes a LOT of time and money, especially when you’re indie. The base game of V rising has already shown remarkable innovation compared to the rest of the survival genre, which is an extremely daunting genre to break into. Stop being so ungrateful ffs.
The fact that you haven’t made it to endgame yet means that you aren’t qualified to make this type of a comment.
Also you literally debunk your own argument. How can the game lack replay ability when you highlight one of the issues of the game being the fact that people leave the server to REPLAY the game?
I think it’s easy to forget it’s early access with how polished it is. But I think the bigger issue is just that some people were expecting the standard survival game loop where you dedicate 100 hours to get raided, whereas it seems with this game the intent is to have quick progression so you can focus on pvp without having all your time wasted, and as a result I see most people server hopping frequently, especially since you can get to dawnthorn in a couple days
I know it takes time, even just for a roadmap to be revealed. This current replayablilty is a horrible design, servers die in 2-3 days. This isn't a battle royale, this is a survival, it should last much longer before needing a wipe. Sadly the devs didn't consider the effect of a stationary map with linear progression. I couldn't reach end game because all it took was one or 2 groups to sweat the first 20 hours of a server and kill it off in the next few days. All I fear is the devs approaching future updates with just a longer linear progression, rather than a looped one. Anyways time will tell.
Yeah I think ilvl shouldn’t exist . All mobs should be same power,
That way people will be more spread around the map and gives more freedom of choice
For example , if you want to start in silver light , you can.
Also it will solve the problem of pvp servers where I barely see any players in high tier areas , and it will also help people not get camped in certain areas.
They can just go somewhere else.
With boss rewards , maybe make the rewards based on number of bosses killed.
If you want bat form for example, need to kill 90% of the bosses.
While writing this i realized that if ilvl will not exist then gear upgrades will be useless. But I guess there are plenty of solutions for that.
I think if the game will be less linear it will help with the open world feeling
But the game hasn't lost 80%. Where are you getting that statistic?
Game peaked at 150k, now it's at 28k. Still amazing but comparing it, pretty MASSIVE drop in just under a month. Proves my point of lack of replayablilty, regardless of how many people disagree with what I'm pointing out.
You are comparing all time peak to current....a very biased towards your argument stat to pull there my guy. Imo it's far more a lack of good servers and settings than a replayability issue. The game loop is fine. Pretty much every official server is trash and there is good reason no one stays.
Btw I think most games in history lose 80% from their peak.
if a game has managed to retain even 50% from its peak it’s amazing. Once new content released many people come back.
The only thing we need to hope is for frequent and good updates so it will keep the game refreshing for people
Not in under a month mate. The signs are clear, servers wipe every 3 days because of non time gate linear gear and map design. People are choosing to deny there is an issue, updates can help a bit, but if the core design remains flawed, it won't change much.
No fix for the server corruption :(
Why don’t they just make bat form block teleporting items with a buff so normal waygates, yet still cheap, can be used to tp any item. You still need to get to the TP successfully where as bat form you just need to be outside at night to bounce
Have you heard of caves? Lol waygates should not allow you to teleport with items other than the 3 new ones they just added.
Caves would be more useful if they would just put the dang routes on the map. Or color code them or something. I hate having to pull up an external website map just to see where I'm going.
My friends and I were convinced that caves would be 2 way as soon as we got frog form. The fact that cave exits can't be reached by frog or bat form is an unfortunate decision.
I don't hate the color code idea but it's not very hard to remember them if you just go over it a few times lol.
I also think that the caves are just in utterly useless locations unless you are going from Dunley to Farbane. I've never wanted to go from the Cursed Forest to Silverlight Hills. Or Silverlight Hills to the other end of Farbane. If I'm in the Cursed Forest, I'm probably farming for Cursed Forest goods. My inventory is full. Why would I want to go somewhere else before returning to my castle? If I had a castle in the Cursed Forest and I wanted to go to Silverlight, I would use the teleporter! Maybe there's some use for the three people who manage to have a castle in the Silverlight?
You are using them improperly then. We have our base setup so that whether we are farming in silver light or cursed Forest it's a quick run back to base through not as many highly contested areas. The caves have saved me so much great loot where otherwise I'd be making a big run holding really good gear. They reduce the risk of you getting caught out while farming. I absolutely love the caves and make great use out of them.
Same here. My base is in the lower right of Farbane. So the Cave from Dunley is left of my base and the cave from Silverlight is right. If I'm returning from the Cursed forest I use the cave to the far right of the forest to get the the north of Dunley short hop and then the cave from Dunley to Farbane and my base. Make moving around incredible fast. It's saved me so many servents and prisoners too.
