That's an interesting perspective. I had always heard the same thing growing up, but that's probably because debit cards were only starting to be adopted by the late 90's and early 2000's.

We usually keep all our money in a bank account, so loose change/ cash that you have on you can feel as extra money just in case. It's easier to just pay in cash.
