That's rare and also very sad to die so early and young
I found his death record on Ancestry. He was born in Abholming on April 19, 1916 and was a member of 6 Kompany, Infantry Regiment 85. His cause of death appears to be just listed as an "A.", so while I can't say for sure I'm guessing he was killed by an artillery strike.
Born April 19th 1916 in Abholming
Unit: 6. Kompanie Infanterie Regiment 85
Grave: Forest Poicoiandowka
Why is this rare ? Or what makes it rare ?
The fact that he was killed so early on in the war, just 7 days after it began. And the fact that it was during the invasion of Poland. The vast majority of these death cards are from Germans who were killed on the eastern front fighting the Russians later in the war.
Thank you for the explanation, so what could it be worth ?
