It’s meant to be JD from scrubs, they were in a ratings battle at the time.
[Here is the action figure in question](https://www.mercari.com/us/item/m84298219539/?gbraid=0AAAAADR9UGe8SPX_59tcts2xJrTzyIlZN&gclsrc=aw.ds&&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=12877497079&utm_content=t0&adgroup=120335190446&network=g&device=m&merchant_id=372858522&product_id=m84298219539&product_id=696733476452&gbraid=0AAAAADR9UGe8SPX_59tcts2xJrTzyIlZN&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIyJDEhvSf9QIV0xPUAR326wSzEAQYASABEgJ2MPD_BwE)
It's crazy to me that Scrubs and The Office were on at the same time. Scrubs seems like such an early 2000's show, and The Office is such a late 2000's show, but they actually overlap by like 5 years - over half of both shows' runs.
One thing that helps with this feeling is the fact that Scrubs was only released in 4:3/SD quality while The Office is in 16:9/Full HD.
S8 on ABC was 16:9 and a better resolution
At least they got it right for the final season.
Well there were actually two seasons on… oh wait, right, we don’t talk about that.
Yup that was the joke they made.
Shit. I hate when people do what I just did. That’s on me and I am greatly humbled by this experience
I didn't realize the joke till yours, so. Not like I go around memorizing the number of seasons in shows
I feel you man. I've been in your shoes before and felt like the biggest douche and hypocrite. Props for acknowledging it and owning up to it.
Are you talking about some imaginary season that never happened? I can't imagine what that would be like. Med school students with the doctors teaching them with no compelling story arcs? Next you're gonna tell me that one of the Franco brothers played a role in it?
What is with this sub? Everyone talks about fake Scrubs seasons and a fake episode of the Office called "Scott's Tots"
These things do not exist.
That imaginary season was after 8. Not the one I'm talking about
We don't discuss *that* season....
S8 was good. You are thinking of S9
Only the earlier seasons. And that's because scrubs started 4 years before the office. By the time the office was on, scrubs was in full HD...
Right? I just listened to the most recent episode of Office Ladies and they mentioned that the set used when Jim and Pam find out she's pregnant was actually the set of Scrubs. They left a corridor and some rooms dressed for them to use and I thought that was just really cool. As many times as I've watched through The Office and Scrubs, it never clicked for me that it was the same set.
That set actually was an old hospital in LA. Tons of films and tv series used it. Children’s Hospital has a joke in it where they are taking the stairs and one of them says “the elevators haven’t worked since they filmed Scrubs here.” The hospital has since been demolished though :(
I used to live within walking distance on Riverside from it. It’s a nice apartment complex now. I watched it go up before I moved north.
When Pam is having her first baby part of it at least is filmed at St Josephs hospital in Burbank. I recognized the buildings in the outdoor scenes. St joes actually has an extra wing thats used for filming. I remember seeing tons of film crews there when I was in clinicals for nursing school.
Reminds me of a bit in The Other Two where everyone they meet in the hospital (patient, nurse, doctor, etc) turns out to be an actor researching a role.
In all fairness, the Sacred Heart ambiance doesn’t fit The Office’s, so seeing the hospital in a totally different light is kinda jarring, lol.
There was a formative period in my life when NBC had a two-hour block of Parks n Rec, Community, The Office, and 30 Rock. Back-to-back new episodes of each. It was the best
literally me. “thursday night comedy” was my shit
It’s so weird going back to watch shows where the first season aired at the end of the flip phone phase and the final season aired at the start of smart phones becoming the norm.
Try watching the tech grow up on X-Files. They use cell phones in the early nineties and search databases in green on black CRTs. They kept up as the show went on too.
I remember that flashback episode where Mulder uses a cellular phone, and when he takes it out of his trench coat, the damn thing has an antenna and is about the size of a quart of milk.
It's insane to watch first few seasons of The Office and how they actually resemble the 90s and early 2000s much more than they resemble today. Yet, we still consider it this very modern show.
I actually think the choice it being about a paper company helps with that. It was a dying industry then, it’s a dying industry now.
My thoughts exactly!! I didn’t realize that Scrubs ran all the way to 2010.
Well that just makes sense. Scrubs premiered before 9/11, and became popular rather quickly. The Office didn't really start making a big dent in pop culture till its 3rd season, which is late 2000s ('07 or '08).
They really are from two distinct time periods of pop culture.
Good thing they didn't go with the Turk action figure..
You think my name is Turk Turkleton?
AND MRS TURKLETON!
Ah scrubs... I love all 8 seasons of that show
Season 9 would've been better as a new show instead of some weird semi-spinoff. Michael Mosley was really good in it. So was Dave Franco.
Eliza Coupe is also fantastic in everything.
> Eliza Coupe
Futureman! Kiss her right on the rat hole.
Happy Endings was great.
Season 9 wasn't bad at all. As far as corny sitcoms go, it was pretty good. Shame the network forced it to be Season 9 and not just a new show like you said. Med School would have worked so much better, even if they kept the cameos from the original cast. Although spinoffs rarely work, I thought this one had enough quality after the awkward first couple episodes. By the end of the season I wanted more from that group. So it goes.
Agree completely. Almost everything about the last couple of seasons of that show was botched, and the last episode of season 8 still made a pretty darn good wrap up to the series and the second half of season 9 still produced some really solid sitcom episodes.
The second half of season 9 actually did take off a bit IMO and leave me wanting more as well. It really would have made a solid spinoff if they’d committed to that course of action from the beginning. I liked most of the newer characters, they just weren’t the original gang from Sacred Heart. If they hadn’t tried to pass them off as a 1-for-1 continuation of the original, the potential was there for people to accept them.
Laverne and Shirley, Mork and Mindy, The Jeffersons, and Maude were all spin-offs. They can work, but the main caveat is that it can’t be a cash grab, you need a really dynamic lead (Robin Williams) or ensemble (The Jeffersons) to keep interest after the novelty of the spin off wears off, just like any other series. I hate Season 9 of Scrubs, but considering how big Dave Franco got for a while I think they could have done something good with it as a new show.
Caaan I get another sccootttchhhhh
Another Bahama Mama, (easy on the Mama).
Nonsense. Its Turk Anjaydee.
It was a very good day for me!
You got brinner? Daaaaayyyyyummmm Turkledawg
You mean why is there silverware in the pancake drawer?
You got brinner? Damn, Turkle-dog!
Fill out a Triple T form: Tough Titties Turkelton
It’s called flonkerton.
No, it's called Jiggly ball
Oh yeah, Brown Bear would have been a bad look for sure
You are such a racist, you think Turk is black!?
Well, at least they didn't mention Carla being Puerto Rican.
^^^^I ^^^^mean ^^^^Dominican...
I don't remember any other line of the song besides "I mean, Dominican!"
He is black...right?
Stop it. Stop it right now!
*cue default dance*
Funny too that the hospital that Pam and Jim go to in Company Picnic is clearly the hospital from Scrubs (also the hospital in Children's Hospital).
It's also funny because Rob Huebbel is in that episode and in Children's Hospital
The fact that action figure doesn't come with an appletini is a travesty.
i didn't realize an appletini is essentially just vodka and apple juice. so JD was essentially ordering apple juice with a splash of vodka. haha
Sometimes he changes it up with a nectarini, that bartender really knows his way around nectar.
the one he orders likely has green apple schnapps and not apple juice.
Finger or toe?
The last time Kim was in town, we got some appletinis and poured them on her good parts.
You know what? I'll be manly tonight. I'll have a nectarini
That man knows his way around nectar.
Hairmet sold seperately
Yeah, but he said it's 100% Roy. It can't not be Roy.
Tit for tit
Scrubs got moved to ABC towards the end of their run, which is when it overlapped with the Office.
I'm actually watching Scrubs right now with the ABC logo on the screen.
Even the first 7 seasons of Scrubs that aired on NBC were produced by Buena Vista/ABC Studios (owned by Disney).
Yeah the ABC logo is on all seasons on Hulu so I assume they own all the distro rights as well.
Scrubs was on ABC from 2009 to 2010, so S6 of the Office was the only time they overlapped on opposing networks.
This person's mercari listing getting blown up with thousands of views but nobody buying their 37 dollar nurse. That app is a trip.
>Here is the action figure in question
And that action figure looks more like Janitor than JD
This is even better
Oh okay. I honestly would have believed that was Roy though tbh. XD
Also, on the desk(not pictured) is call of duty. Proving he had played it before transferring branches and used his “play dumb” tactic on Karen to spend more time with her JUST like he pretended he didn’t know how to drive manual so Pam could teach him!
There is another episode in like season 2-3 that you can see he has a psp on his desk as well. He knew what he was doing
And when he also said that he wouldnt tell his kid that violent video games are objectively more fun
and he'd play it in philly with darrell
Now that is an interesting plot point.
Bro is buttery smooth
I can't believe is not Jimothy
That makes me feel a lot better since I was annoyed at the writers having him run and jump at a wall for a minute straight after easily killing one of his own teammates.
My only counter argument is that he may have been a console gamer, and he was actually bad because he didn't know the controls for mouse and keyboard instead of a controller. Either seem likely to me
The box was cardboard and thicker, pretty clearly the PC version of the game and not console. This has bugged me for years!
No marijuana is a memory loss drug

S T R A N G L E R
Nah, that’s just Jim trying to find a new way to escape the paper life
We want to see more of Philly Jim!
This is my theory
Jim framed GHS!
this is a theory i can get behind. ive become somewhat of a jim hater. he's mean.
He is also the one that you would most medium suspect.
Imagine your, possibly on the spectrum, coworker is really proud of their new inflatable ball chair and they tell you about it. Instead of sounding interested and making conversation, you take out your scissors and stab the ball, possibly hurting your coworker and their feelings. He now has to either buy a new ball, or feel ashamed and embarrassed and give up any excitement and health benefits he wanted from the ball.
Jim is the Scranton Strangler
Imagine a goofball new employee, nice guy, wants to be liked, doesnt have many friends. He's having a laugh about his new acapela ringtone....
This. His behavior toward Andy points to Jim being kind of a bully. He can be that way towards Dwight, but Dwight arguably brings it on himself and can dish it back at times.
Idk Andy was insufferable. Only seems like bullying because Andy couldn’t control his emotions. He brought it on himself by annoying the office workers
Jim seems to have 0 patience for people who aren't tuned to "common sense" social norms. Other people would grin and bear it or even talk to them about it directly. Jim seems to just punish them for it, without trying to solve it first.
He goes by Drew now
Ok Andy 👍
Found Andy's account
Dwight isn’t on the spectrum.
There’s also a theory that it is meant to be a character from a competing tv show, Scrubs.
Lol I believe your theory is fact whereas op observation is just a fun fan idea :)
I mean dont you think Roy as a hanging nurse is a better theory?
Hey Roy! How its hanging!?
This particular time, I was trying to hang myself, when one office worker, who shall remain nameless, kicked the ladder out from under me and yelled-
You ignorant slut! Depression is a very serious illness. Over 32,000 people commit suicide every year according to a 2004 study.
Is that the most recently available data?
.........Who wants candy?
Voodoo mama juju boo boo
Well I do declare...
Poop is raining from the ceiling!
What does Jim's poster mean above his desk?
The man who kills him will know.
Someone ask the ladies podcast!
No! Don't do that, or you'll get a 20-minute deep dive on the history of desks.
Ahem, some people LIKE those deep dives.
Is that podcast good? I haven’t given it a listen because I feel like it would be cringey and a bit of a cash grab
I've just started listening to the earlier episodes of their podcast and it's really good, they have a lot of good stories and background info and they're very thorough, the ads are kinda boring cause they're the same thing every but the podcast itself is really good, also they have good banter and it totally seems like they're friends in real life too
I love it. They definitely get off on tangents a lot, like one time I think they have us the history of ice cream, but I personally enjoy that stuff. I like their banter, they seem like great friends and their conversation seems very natural (not sure what the other commenter is talking about). The content is the best part, obviously. They do get into a lot of detail, and people may find some of it boring but I don’t. I really have zero complaints.
If you try it and end up not liking it, there’s a new book out called Welcome to Dunder Mifflin that should give you a lot of the same info. There’s also Brian Baumgartner’s podcast which I haven’t checked out yet
Brian Baumgartners voice always throws me off. He sounds so normal haha. Thanks for the input though, got a 4 hour drive this evening so I’ll give it a shot! Thank you
Yes, I don’t find it cringey. It’s fun to hear the behind the scenes stories and how they shot certain scenes, who keeps breaking character, etc. You can tell that they are both so excited to do the podcast. It’s pretty great.
As soon as they start talking break, “okay Google, skip ahead 3 minutes”
Yeah you can straight up just skip the ads because they’re almost always exactly in 30 second increments
And even if it isn’t you usually don’t miss anything important
It has some really good info, but at the same time a lot of useless info. Also they repeat what each one says all the time and it gets so annoying.
Lady...they repeat what each one says all the time and it gets so annoying.
I despise that "Life?" picture on his wall. It just looks so /r/iamverysmart or /r/im14andthisisdeep.
His whole room looks like it belongs to a 14 year old.
The mom who put a creepy clown picture in their hallway probably helped decorate it
Matches his haircut.
That's his smudgeness coming through.
Ugh. This is the opposite of art. I find it more offensive than hardcore porno.
This is hotel art.
Thanks, I was trying to figure out what it said.
I don't understand what the rest of it is though.
Absolutely. Even for the time, that was lame.
And that doesn't fit Jim's character at the time perfectly?
That’s Jim’s character
Trying to be deep like that in the mid 2000s wasn't as cringey as it is today, at least within the age group that did stuff like that. I'm not defending it, and yes it is cringey looking back, but I can see how that would be a piece of the set and nobody would think of it as overly cringey.
I miss when Jim was portrayed as having a secretly-somewhat-sensitive, maybe-listens-to-indie-music type personality.
Jim, I don’t want the first thing the baby hears to be the 8 Mile soundtrack.
Yes. When the show had to win us over instead of be a rotating door of cameos.
> Hey man, you wanna listen to some records?
Well, that's debatable. There are basically two schools of thought.
Fact: Bears eat beets.
Bears, Beets, Battlestar Galactica
What are you doing?
Whaaat?? Now im gonna have to rewatch all the episodes again
You can't just rewatch one episode. Better rewatch the whole season just to be safe.
*Sigh* Press play on “Pilot”
I've always loved the fact that Jim has a "MAKING SENSE" sticker,
Which are made to slap under American stop-signs to form "STOP MAKING SENSE"
As in the famous Talking Heads live film/album.
100%? Not a chance.
I dunno but I fuxking hate that picture that’s hanging up. It really irks me
Happy thoughts Pam happy thoughts
"Email Surveillance" is coincidentally the next episode in my queue. Guess that's how I'll be starting my day.
I didn’t know Jim was a talking heads fan!!
Was talked about in the podcast
... that doesn't look anything like Roy?
lmao it’s so funny that pam 100% saw it but chose to ignore it
Probably because it isn't Roy
yes, please zoom away for those bangs
what episode is this from?
Email Surveillance, season 2, ep. 9
I'm no superman
Cool but did you know that three italian soldiers prisoners of war in a british camp in Kenya escaped to climb the second highest mountain in africa in WW2? When they were Done they went back to the camp and handed themselves in to the british. ALL BECAUSE THEY WERE BORED.
It’s senor loadenstein
